Attachment, Identity, and Transitional Space in Religious Conversion
This talk will report on the findings of a qualitative, psychoanalytically oriented study of the psychological use of religious conversion. Case studies will illustrate the use of (1) God as a transitional object, (2) religious ritual for emotion regulation, and (3) religious values in identity formation.
